Longbottom Coffee and Tea uses the miracle of "Fire-Induced Convection" for it's unmatchable coffee roasts! This is known more commonly as atmospheric convection. It occurs whenever an air parcel or air layer is heated so that it expands, becomes less dense than its surroundings, and begins to move upward by buoyancy. But before we get too technical, we want to explain what role fire plays in the Longbottom roasting Process.
Fire is the chain reaction of released energy. Fire is defined as a state, process, or instance of combustion in which a fuel is ignited and combined with oxygen, giving off light, heat, and flame. As explained in some detail in the "wind" link, Longbottom Coffee uses fire-induced convection, by "impelling" or drawing fire heated air into a combustion chamber, that then lifts the coffee into constant motion, roasts the coffee to perfection, and removes the unwanted skin known as "chaff".
Fire is used at two separate points. First at the beginning entrance into the chamber where the flame heated air enters into the chamber. Then the up flow of this super heated air roasts the coffee evenly, while at the same time removing the chaff. Finally the after burners dissolve all the impurities that might be released into the environment.
So, not only is Longbottom bringing you the finest quality coffee available anywhere on earth, but longbottom is making sure that our process is friendly to the environment. Fire is a wonderful miracle when controlled through wisdom. Once again, we ask that you only try our coffee for your self and you will surely taste the difference!
