While millions of people in the industrialized world enjoy coffee or make their living from it, millions more whose lives center on growing, caring for and harvesting coffee suffer the ills of abject poverty.
The absence of clean water, proper health care, educational opportunity and adequate nutrition is commonplace in the coffee-growing world. Even
during the good years, when crops do well and prices are high, growing coffee provides barely enough income to sustain a family.
In response to this concern, Longbottom is proud to support Coffee Kids. Coffee Kids is an international non-profit organization established to improve the quality of life for children and families who live in coffee-growing communities around the world.
Coffee Kids programs are locally directed, community-based and founded on the principles of sustainability. Coffee Kids believes that people create the solutions to their problems, so the organization connects them with resources and ideas that will help make their vision for the world a reality. Each project is structured so that new economic dependencies will not be created, ensuring that the project can flourish independent of outside support.
